Webinar: CCC Brief Crisis Intervention

Join us on September 10 for a CCC Health & Wellness webinar on the brief crisis intervention model

Published: August 9, 2019

The demand for student mental health services continues to grow across higher education systems. California Community Colleges have limited resources to deal with high demand, and they often respond by drastically reducing the number of counseling sessions available. Some CCC also have long waitlists for services, or they are only able to refer students to other services that also have long waitlists (e.g., county agencies). This webinar will explore the brief crisis intervention model, which provides immediate response and short-term support to help students remain in school.

Learning Objectives:

Benefits to participants include direction and guidance on how to conduct brief crisis interventions. Participants will:

  • Identify the characteristics of effective crisis interventions
  • Adapt brief crisis interventions for a college mental health setting
  • Establish effective action plans for follow-up and crisis resolution
  • Identify strategies for self-care and supports for the mental health provider
